Dr Congcong Wang

Machine vision lab, Tianjin University of Technology, China

Biography

Congcong Wang is currently a lecturer at the machine vision lab, Tianjin University of Technology. She received her Ph.D. in computer science from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway in 2020. Her research interests include medical image analysis, machine/deep learning, computer vision and surgery robotics. She is hosting a Chinese national young researcher project and has been worked in several Norwegian and European projects."

 

Shadi Albarquouni

Helmholtz Center Munich, Germany

Biography: Shadi Albarqouni is an AI Young Investigator Group Leader at Helmholtz AI and TUM Junior Fellow at TU Munich. Previously, he worked as a Visiting Scientist at Imperial College London and ETH Zurich, and as a Senior Research Scientist & Team Lead at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Shadi has more than 100 publications (Citations > 3400, h-index: 20) in Medical Imaging Computing, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning published in MedIA, IEEE TMI, IEEE JBHI, IPMI, MICCAI, MIDL, ISBI, ICCV, ECCV, BMVC, and ICML. Shadi has actively served as a reviewer, session chair, area chair, program committee member, and organizing committee member at MICCAI, ISBI, among other conferences in the research community. Shadi has been elected as a member of the European Lab for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS), and the Arab-German Young Academy (AGYA) based on his outstanding achievements. Besides, he actively works in supporting and promoting scientists and researchers in Low-Middle Income Countries (LMICs) by co-founding the Palestine Young Academy (PYA) and RISE-MICCAI community. His current research interests include Interpretable ML, Robustness, Uncertainty quantification, and recently Federated Learning. He is also interested in Entrepreneurship and Startups for Innovative Medical Solutions, in particular, knowledge transfer to developing and emerging countries. Zohaib Amjad Khan

Biography

Zohaib Amjad Khan  received the dual master’s degree in information and communication technologies from the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, in 2010. He has been a Ph.D. Researcher working at the Institut Galilée, Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, France, since 2017. His research interests include medical imaging, image and video processing and quality assessment, applied deep learning, and virtual reality simulations. Currently, he is a Post-Doc at Université Paris-Saclay, CNRS, CentraleSupélec, L2S

 

Prof. Habib Zaidi

PET Instrumentation & Neuroimaging Laboratory at Geneva University Hospital

Biography

Professor Habib Zaidi is Chief physicist and head of the PET Instrumentation & Neuroimaging Laboratory at Geneva University Hospital and faculty member at the medical school of Geneva University. He is also a Professor at the University of Groningen (Netherlands) and the University of Southern Denmark. His research is supported by the Swiss National Foundation, private foundations and industry (Total 8.3M US$) and centres on hybrid imaging instrumentation (PET/CT and PET/MRI), computational modelling and radiation dosimetry and deep learning. He was guest editor for 11 special issues of peer-reviewed journals and serves on the editorial board of leading journals in medical physics and medical imaging. He has been elevated to the grade of fellow of the IEEE, AIMBE and the AAPM. His academic accomplishments in the area of quantitative PET imaging have been well recognized by his peers since he is a recipient of many awards and distinctions among which the prestigious (100’000$) 2010 Kuwait Prize of Applied sciences (known as the Middle Eastern Nobel Prize). Prof. Zaidi has been an invited speaker of over 160 keynote lectures and talks at an International level, has authored over 330 peer-reviewed articles (h-index=64, >15,400+ citations) in prominent journals and is the editor of four textbooks.

 

Lu ZHANG

INSA, Rennes, France

Biography

Lu ZHANG is an associate professor at « National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) of Rennes » in France. She received the B.S degree from Southeast University and the M.S. degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University in China in 2004 and 2007, respectively. From October 2009 to November 2012, she was a PhD student of the LISA and CNRS IRCCyN labs in France, working on the model observers for the medical image quality assessment. She received the « Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of France » awarded by IEEE France Section, SFGBM, AGBM and GdR CNRS-Inserm Stic-Santé in 2013. Then she worked on the quality of experience (QoE) in telemedicine before she joined INSA in September 2013, as a member of the « VAADER » research group of the IETR lab. She is a board member of the international VQEG (Video Quality Experts Group). She works on human perception understanding, image quality assessment, saliency prediction, image analysis and coding

 

Prof. Marius Pedersen

Biography

Marius Pedersen (Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. degrees in computer engineering and media technology (MiT) from the Gjøvik University College, Norway, in 2006 and 2007, and the Ph.D. degree in color imaging from the University of Oslo, Norway, in 2011, sponsored by Océ. He is currently a Full Professor with the Department of Computer Science, NTNU, Gjøvik, Norway. He is also the Director of The Norwegian Colour and Visual Computing Laboratory (Colourlab). His research interest includes subjective and objective image quality.

 

Anuja Vats

Biography

Anuja holds a master's degree  in automotive Electronics from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, India. She is currently completing her PhD thesis at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) under the supervision of Prof. Marius Pedersen. She is working in the framework of the Capsule AI-3D project at NTNU funded by the Research Council of Norway. Her research focus is towards developing unsupervised and semi-supervised deep learning algorithms for enabling Computer Aided Diagnoses (CADx) for wireless Capsule Endoscopy. Prior to enrolling in PhD, she applied deep learning in the Automotive domain for the creation of photo-realistic urban driving test scenarios.

 

Ian Morilla

Biography

After a first postdoctoral experience in the Statistical Genomics lab of Zurich, Dr. Morilla moved to LAGA in 2014 in order to develop algorithms of artificial intelligence inspired in life. In particular by means of machine learning based on predictive models of clinic big data in collaboration with biologists and physician of the Center for Research on Inflammation (CRI) at Universite de Paris. Dr. Morilla is now associated member of LAGA and keeps collaborating with groups at Bichat hospital with the goal of better understanding the molecular basis of physiopathology in human diseases and its application to personalized medicine

 

Safaa Al-Ali

Biography

Safaa Al-Ali is PhD student in LAGA, the math department at  University Sorbonne Paris Nord. She is working on video processing for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) under the supervision of Dr Hatem Zaag.

 

Tan Sy Nguyen

Biography

Tan Sy Nguyen received the Bachelor Degree - Honor program - in Electrical-Electronics Engineering from Ho Chi Minh University of Technology, Vietnam National University in July 2019. He was awarded the Excellent Scholarship of the Institut Galilée, Université Sorbonne Paris Nord (USPN) in 2019. He obtained the master's degree "Innovation and engineering in images and networks" from the Sorbonne Paris Nord University (USPN) in June 2020. He published 3 international scientific papers and received a running-up student paper award in 2019 at IEEE-MMSP 2019. Since September 2020, Sy is preparing a PhD thesis at the Laboratoire Analyse, Géométrie et Applications (LAGA) in collaboration with the Laboratoire de Traitement et Transport de l'Information (L2TI) at USPN. His research interests include image classification, image and video enhancement, bio-inspired models for image analysis and processing, data science and machine learning technology.
